1 - What Typically Goes Wrong With Media Discs?
Media discs generally have a hard life. They get dropped, left out of protective cases, get used as place mats, suffer accidents and get scuffed up during their lives. Faulty or old media players can also ruin a good disc. To read a disc, players such as CD, DVD and Blue Ray project a laser beam focused at the data layer within the disc (metallic reflective layer). The laser beam is reflected back towards a sensor in the player. Scratches and other damage to the clear optical layer (the none printed side) cause the disc players laser beam to distort & bounce around (diffraction) away from the players reader sensor so the data cannot be read properly. What you will experience is track or chapter skipping or blocky graphics distortion when played on your DVD or CD player, Video Games freeze or simply will not load.
2 - What Kind Of Damage Can't We Repair?
Bent, warped, cracked, melted and snapped discs. Also any disc where the internal foil coated data layer is damaged, delaminated from the disc substrate or oxidised.
3 - How Does Scratched Disc Repair Fix Them?
First we carefully assess the disc for type and level of damage. We then subject the disc to a tailored repair cycle using one of our professional repair machines. Our process mechanically removes the scratches and then polishes the surface. We do not fill them or coat the discs. The disc is then removed, cleaned and finally inspected for optical clarity to ensure that all scratches and damage has been removed. Deeper scratches and surface imperfections are simply subjected to a longer processing cycle until the surface imperfections are removed. We then return the disc(s) to you. Simple.
4 - 100% Working Or My Money Back?
Yes that's right! So confident are we that we can repair your damaged discs and get them working again, that we offer a 100% money back guarantee. We can't be fairer than that. If we can't repair the disc we will not charge you for the process.
5 - What our your Terms and Conditions (T&C's)?

6 - Can every disc be repaired?
The majority of disc’s are repairable, but even though we enjoy a 98% disc repair success rate and most types of damage are successfully repaired, some discs just can't be repaired. For example cracked, melted and bent discs, or where the reflective data foil layer has peeled away or been compromised. Also damage or scratches on the label side cannot be repaired. This type of damage to the data stamped area of the disc is permanent and cannot be repaired. Since discs are not created in exactly the same way it is difficult to state whether the amount of damage on a disc will render the disc unusable. Many discs can have top damage and not show any sign of data corruption. Here at scratched-disc-repair.com we test all repaired video game discs on dedicated consoles.
7 - What type of disks can you repair?
Our technicians can repair any type of compact disc CD, DVD, video game, data or software disc. Such as music and audio compact discs audio CDs, data CDs CD-R, data DVDs, Digital Photo discs, Karaoke music discs, car satellite navigation discs, film DVDs, HD-DVD, Blu Ray discs; BD discs; Xbox and Xbox 360 game discs; Play Station 1, Play Station 2 & Play Station 3 game discs; Nintendo Wii discs; Nintendo GameCube disks and similar.

However for just a few pounds you can send your valuable media disc to scratched-disc-repair.com and have it returned to you good as new and working. We recondition all sorts of media discs both for eBay sellers - power sellers & Amazon traders. These business traders realise higher profits from selling ‘LIKE NEW’ used, second hand and pre owned media discs and at the same time dramatically reduce faulty and poor condition returns, this in turn generates positive feedback for the trader who often saves time and hassle dealing with unsatisfied customers.

20 - How does Scratched-Disc-Repair.com repair my discs?
Our repair process is conducted using the very latest industrial quality disc repair technology. The processing equipment is high-speed, precision equipment that utilise a combination of specialist pads and a polishing compound specifically designed and tested for optical media. The severity of the damage on the disc determines the level of repair needed. Our repair technicians inspect each disc to determine the severity of damage to assess the level of repair required. The disc is then subjected to a tailored repair process. If the disc is badly damaged with deep scratches it will undergo a longer repair cycle. Repair cycles can range between 10 to 20 minutes per disc depending on the level of damage. The discs are hand washed and dried to remove any residual polish, inspected for optical clarity and finally tested before being returned to you.
21 - Will the disc be restored back to working order 100%?
The 'read' or ‘playing’ side of the disc is the only side that can be repaired. Scratched-Disc-Repair.com’s disc repair technicians will repair the disc to an ‘as new’ condition. The original highly polished mirror appearance will be restored. Residual and virtually undetectable hairline scratches may remain. All video game discs, music and film discs will be tested on relative equipment. Please note: any damage to the top or label side cannot be repaired.
22 - What about deep gouges, chips, or cracks?
Occasionally scratches are so deep we consider them a gouge. Some gouges may be so deep that they actually reach or even penetrate the data foil layer of the disc. Although most gouges can be removed, we will not risk ruining the data foil. When this occurs the resurfacing process is stopped and a light scratch will remain. This light scratch may or may not affect the play of the disc. We will determine this during post repair testing. When chips are present they are most likely found on the edge of the disc and cannot be repaired. Cracked discs cannot be repaired.
23 - Does a perfectly resurfaced disc guarantee it will play?
In a minority of cases the answer is no. There can be a number of reasons other than a scratch on the read side that can prevent your disc from playing. Your data foil may have top damage, a manufacturer defect, or some other anomaly. Our service is to remove imperfections on the read side of the disc that are caused by normal wear and tear, accidental damage and abuse.
24 - Can I repair a scratched disc myself?
Although other repair methods are available, in our opinion these often prove to be ineffective and costly, make a mess and to be frank are a complete  waste of your time and money. We highly recommend using a professional guaranteed service such as that offered by Scratched-Disc-Repair.com. This is what we do, we are specialists, have dedicated specialist equipment and above all are professionals.
25 - What if my disc doesn't work when I get it back?
We always do our level best to restore your discs, but for some reason should your disc not work then email us. You can return the problematic disc to us where we will reprocess it again. If we can't fix the disc then we will give you your money back 100% guaranteed!
26 - How do I order Disc Repairs?
It's simple. Follow these four easy steps.

STEP 1 - Decide which repair service you require: Postal Disc Repairs  OR  Drop off & Collect Disc Repairs.

STEP 2 - On the order page decide how many discs you have to repair then select and click on the relevant price band order button.

STEP 3 – Ensure you adjust the quantity of disc repairs for the quantity you are ordering and finish order.

STEP 4 – Post or drop off the discs to us.

On completion we return your discs in the post if you selected the postal service or call you for collection if you selected the drop and collect service.
27 - Will my repaired discs look and play like new?
Yes! If the disc is repairable, we will bring the read side back to playing and looking like new again! The surface finish and optical clarity is guaranteed, however we cannot repair poorly recorded discs, or discs that have foil damage or other information layer damage since our process does not affect the actual information. Our Process restores the lasers ability to "view" the information on the disc.
28 - How fast is the repair service and how long before I get my repaired discs back?
Fast! Most orders are shipped out 24 - 48 hours from receipt. Large repair orders may require a couple more days repair time. Since our repair times can vary from time to time, we also offer an Emergency Repair Services should you require it. Simply call or email us to discuss this option. Please Note: When paying by cheque repaired discs will only be returned when payment has cleared. Allow 5 days for cheque clearance.
29 - Are my discs secured at your premises?
Your discs are protected in our repair area at all times.
30 - Do you guarantee your repairs?
Yes. We provide a 100% satisfaction repair guarantee. The playing side of the disc will be improved and play like 'brand-new', or your money back!
31 - What happens if I send you a defective or disc that cannot be repaired?
Some discs with cracks, foil damages, label damages, separating layers, etc. may be beyond repair. If such damage is noticed, Scratched-Disc-Repair.com will return the disc 'as-is' and will not charge a repair fee. If the damage was undetected and a repair was attempted, the normal repair fee(s) are charged. Scratched-Disc-Repair.com is not responsible for damages to discs during the transport or the repair process.
32 - What if you lose a disc?
We are not responsible for lost discs during transit from or to the customer. The shipping carrier must be notified of any loss claims within 48 hours of receiving your discs, so check your shipments upon receipt and immediately notify us of any problems. Additional return shipping insurance may be requested by the customer at the time of ordering.
33 - What are your Limitations of Liability?
Under no circumstances is Scratched-Disc-Repair.com liable for the following: (1) third-party claims against us for damages; (2) loss of, or damage to, your records or data; or (3) economic consequential damages (including lost profits or savings) or incidental damages even if we are informed of their possibility. (4) Repairs are carried out at your own risk. (5) Lost discs in the post either to our place of work or when returned to you.
34 - How do scratches on a disc affect playback?
Optical discs function under the principal of a laser being directed onto the reflective surface on the 'read' side of the disc and returned to a sensor to interpret the information. A scratch or defect in the protective polycarbonate layer of the disc will alter the path of the focused laser by distorting the beam. A large scratch will cause the laser beam to not reflect to the players read sensor properly, and a skip or blackout occurs and the disc will have payback problems.
35 - So, DVD's, CD's and Games can be repaired?
Yes! Scratched-Disc-Repair.com has the technology that will repair any disc, back to an optically clear finish. Using semi-automated disc repair machines with a degree of technical expertise we achieve low repair cost per disc and produce the best finish which equates to successful quality repairs and fast turnaround times.
36 - What type of damage can you repair?
We can repair the most common forms of read side damage quickly and professionally. There are three basic types of damage that can affect the playback of an optical disc: Read-Side Scratches, Top-Side Scratches, and Foil Dents. Read-Side Scratches are the most common, and we can even repair deep gouges in the polycarbonate layer back to looking and playing 'like-new'. Topside Scratches and Foil Dents are not repairable, as the damage is internal to the disc and beyond a resurfacing and refinishing process.
37 - How do you actually 'repair' a disc?
We use industrial quality precision disc repair machines which accurately and mechanically removes the damaged polycarbonate surface layer with micro abrasives action. The disc is resurfaced to the level of damage received, and then finally polished back to a shiny new surface that looks and plays 'like-new'. The result is a perfectly flat optically clear finish every time.
38 - How many times can one disc be repaired?
A disc can be repaired up to a maximum of 50 times depending on how deep the scratches penetrate the surface of the disc. The information layer of a media disc is thinner than 1/2 the thickness of a piece of paper and is located below the printed side of the disc, leaving approximately 99% clear polycarbonate plastic to protect it from the elements and give the disc form and structure. The laser beam or a player such as a CD, DVD or games console must be able to see through the clear plastic coating to be able to read the data foil layer. The disc repair process removes a very thin layer of this clear plastic until the scratch damage which distorts the read laser is removed thus improving the optical clarity of the disc.
39 - What disc repair equipment do you use?
We have the most advanced disc repair equipment currently available. This ensures we keep up to date with repair technology, most of which is not yet available to the general public. Additionally we have immediate access to additional equipment thus insuring that we can handle even the largest of jobs. Whether you need to repair 1 discs or 1000.
